“Grave illness” — Haha, ever the quipster:-) I think it’s the Everyperson thing. Everyman was startled to be stopped in mid-journey, and none of the friends he asked for help were eager to accompany him (only Good Deeds went along), hoping they could defer this unpleasant though universally inescapable step along life’s journey. Meanwhile, they were too “busy” to notice. You’re not a symbol of death, but mortality. We’re all in that boat which goes a little more downstream each day, though we like to think otherwise. — Kevin

So glad the chemo is over, and that it did exactly what it was supposed to do. I hope the surgery will be minimal, but based on my experience, even “maximal” (is that a word?) surgery will be much easier to deal with than chemo.

Me too! That last bit of chemo was a surprise and shock to my poor ol’ body. But thankfully I recovered quickly.

Thank you JoAnn. My daughter has been a great source of support even though she now lives in Boston. She is coming for my surgery and I can’t wait to wrap my arms around her.

You are sweet! Not sure about the Superwoman bit though. I think most people with cancer are troopers.

I saw your post because Bill linked to it through FB and I”m so glad he did. As someone now writing about health issues including cancer all the time, this really helped to enlighten me and give me ideas about more I can do to enlighten others. Thanks for a great read, much less the willingness to share these very important thoughts and ideas, Betsy!
